What Happened
The largest spending approvals at the June 10, 2025 Compton City Council meeting were a $578,658 heavy equipment purchase from the Measure P Fund — split among five vendors: Sonsray Machinery ($168,981), Quinn Company ($158,560), New Holland Scott Equipment ($121,657), Carson Trailer Inc. ($85,968), and Toyota Material Handling Solutions ($43,492) — and a recurring contract of up to $198,000 with InfoSend, Inc. for water billing data processing and mailing; both passed 5-0 on the consent agenda without discussion. The council voted 5-0 to award Online Solutions, LLC a three-year, $283,500 cloud computing software contract, with an additional $94,500 annual budget allocation that sits just below the $100,000 standalone approval threshold — a pattern flagged as threshold-adjacent — after a brief exchange in which staff confirmed the contract runs July 2025 through June 2028. The council also voted 5-0 to lease city-owned property at 700 North Bullis Road to the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) for $39,139 annually; this is revenue flowing to the city, not an expenditure, and no new city spending was approved under this item. Twelve members of the public addressed the council during general comment, the majority speaking about federal immigration enforcement activity in and around Compton; no speakers addressed any of the spending items on the agenda.
