The Compton City Council held a contentious vote on terminating preferential parking in Richland Farms, ultimately voting 3-1-1 to keep the parking program in place despite a resident petition requesting its removal. The council unanimously approved a $381,900 multi-year contract with [GovWell](https://www.govwell.com) Technologies for integrated permitting, planning, code enforcement, and business licensing software. Council also voted 5-0 to put the city's trash hauling contract with [Republic Services](https://www.republicservices.com) out for competitive bidding (RFP) rather than automatically extending it for five years. Multiple residents raised environmental and health concerns about World Oil's operations and its potential grandfathering into the General Plan 2045 zoning, though the related public hearing was tabled. A community input session on desired characteristics for a new city manager was announced for the following evening.
