The remainder of the meeting was informational: a United Way of Greater LA presenter projected $825,888 annually flowing directly to Compton and approximately $23 million to the Gateway Cities COG if Measure A passes in November — revenue projections tied to a ballot measure, not city spending approvals — and Councilwoman Duhart separately noted the city treasurer generated over $10 million in interest earnings, also not a spending decision. Eleven residents addressed the council during public comment, raising concerns about illegal dumping, potholes, the Artesia Bridge construction timeline, prostitution along Long Beach Boulevard, gang violence, and the disputed legal basis of a District 1 council appointment.
