“Madam mayor and council, as you know, one of the things we discussed some time ago in a strategic session was the rebranding of our city. And the process of a rebrand does a series of things. The most important out of a rebranding is the marketing aspect of identifying all the strengths of Compton. And this is a crucial part of economic development. The other component of branding, in this case possibly rebranding, is giving the city a new identity, if you will. And again, it's something we talked about about with your mayor and council almost two years ago as something that we recommended undertaking to really shed a newer and brighter light on the city of Compton. With that, I'll yield to Director Flournoy and ask him to continue, please.”

“Mayor and council, before you ask questions. Just to kind of give an example to Director Flournoy stated, and he is correct in terms of the city seal. That is a temporary placeholder, but perfect example if you noted. One of our neighboring cities did a rebranding, I believe, last year, and they now refer to themselves as the jewel of the South Bay. When we embarked upon this and began discussing this, we know the nomenclature of the Hub city is something that is extremely near and dear to Compton, but there's nothing that excludes it from having something added to it. You know, I think in my discussion with a series of council members, one of the things I suggested, because Compton has international notoriety, that we can always be the Hub City and something with it, because the impact of Compton, again, is global. And that was a part of the component that we considered under with the undertaking of a rebranding for the city. Subject to that. We'll entertain any questions you may have.”
